Cecily Firestien is an artist who realizes that we can no longer exclude the tumult of the outside world, so clamorous with its noisy opinionated mass media constantly trying to blur the line between art and entertainment, from stomping into art’s private garden. So she welcomes it all into her work, embraces it warmly, and still manages to make paintings that compel us by the sheer force of form, color and gesture even while they entertain us with their witty and quite often wicked imagery.

Her current large collage works on paper are mesmerizing and need to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. This is a must see show!
