Do good, feel good, have fun helping animals & feeding the hungry.
June 9, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
On Sunday, June 9th Wyoming Presbyterian Church (WPC) will be buzzing with activity as two local service programs set up shop on the church lawn.
WPC is excited to partner with Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter to host a pet “spa” and animal adoption event from 10:30-2:00pm! Pet services will include: dog washing, pedicures, massages, and pet micro-chipping – so every pet can be returned to their home safely if they are ever lost. There will also be pet merchandise for sale and some wonderful dogs and cats available for adoption! All proceeds and donations will go directly to Mt. Pleasant, a non-profit animal welfare organization that is 100% funded through donations. Donations of critical items will be greatly appreciated, such as Pro Plan dry dog and puppy food, Purina dry cat and kitten chow, paper towels, and germicidal bleach. This event is open to all who love their special four-legged family members!
WPC also invites you to come ‘Stuff the Bus’ with MEND! MEND is an interfaith network of 20 food pantries in Essex County committed to “Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity.” MEND will have its “Green Bean” parked at WPC from 9:30–10:30am. Church members and neighbors are asked to “stuff the bus” with food during that hour. Then, WPC volunteers will follow the bus to Stop & Shop at 407 Valley Street, South Orange, where we will collect food from generous shoppers until noon. The bus will stay until 2 pm, staffed by another volunteer group and WPC members and friends are welcome to stay and/or join until 2pm.
The “Green Bean” is a school bus, converted into a healthy food collection vehicle and mobile food pantry for under-served communities. WPC invites friends from the community to help “stuff the bus” with healthy, non-perishable items: hot & cold cereals (low-sugar), shelf-safe milk, peanut butter, pasta (whole wheat or regular), pasta sauce (in cans), tuna (in water), canned vegetables (no-salt or low-salt), canned fruit (in juice, not syrup), rice (1 lb. bags), beans (canned or dried), and low-salt soups. Please no food in glass containers.
We hope you can join us for a fun-filled day of doing good and feeling great!
