Encaustic Painting Workshop: Beginner

Encaustic, or wax painting, is a technique that dates back to ancient Greece and Egypt. The process involves using brushes to apply molten beeswax and colored pigments to a rigid board and then fusing with heat. This workshop will explore encaustic processes, applying color and fusing as well as creating different textures. The instructor will go over basic techniques and participants will be able to complete at least two small pieces. A materials list will be provided at registration. This workshop is limited to 6 students. Participants are encouraged to take a half-hour break in the middle of the workshop. Those with asthma or other breathing issues should not take the class.
