The Newark Museum has collected African-American art since 1929, and that collection has grown to more than 360 works of art. Modern Heroics: 75 Years of African-American Expressionism (on view through 1/8/17) presents highlights from this distinguished collection, bringing together painting and sculpture by 24 modern and contemporary African-American artists, spanning from Beauford Delaney to Mickalene Thomas.
Also on view: the newly reinstalled Native American galleries. Learn about this exciting reinstallation, Native Artists of North America, which includes some 100 rarely exhibited works from the Arts of the Americas collection.
