Free First Thursday Nights at MAM

Join us for Free First Thursday Nights at MAM every month from October through June,  5–9 p.m., and enjoy an evening of free art and dynamic programming.

• Free admission to MAM’s permanent collection and special exhibitions, 5–9 p.m. Take a tour at 6:30 or 7:30 p.m.
• do it at Free First Thursday Night – This is the last Free First Thursday Night to see the do itexhibition before it closes December 31! Free First Thursday Night provides new opportunities to interact with do it. Hum your way into a gallery, see newly rotated artworks, speak nonsense words at an open mic instruction, and more! The Montclair State University Students who completed the Sol LeWitt wall drawing will be on site to discuss their experience.
• Full-service bar with special Free First Thursday Night prices. The Art Bar at MAM is provided by Krug Catering at Orange Lawn Tennis Club and NJ Beer Co. MAM members receive a special discount on drinks at the bar! Cash and credit card accepted.
• Live music – Flashback to the Rat Pack with Frank Sinatra Tribute Artist Eric DeLauro, who will croon beloved tunes all evening. Two additional special holiday performances will launch us into the holiday season. First at 6:15, the Newark Boys Chorus returns for their celebrated annual appearance at MAM. Then at 8 p.m. the Metropolitones, a New York City a cappella group composed of women who attended Seven Sister colleges, will close the evening with a delightful holiday set.
• Get your holiday shopping done with The Store at MAM Holiday Trunk Show. Featured holiday gifts include hand-crafted silver jewelry by Rina Young, artisan-made brushed alpaca scarves, raw cut gemstone earrings by Dani Barbe, Glacier Wildlife holiday bone-china ware, and artful menorahs. Free First Thursday Night is also the start of the Members Double Discount Sale—current Museum members receive 20% off store items December 1–31!
• The drop-in Yard School of Art Draw Along Workshop includes a free session with a clothed model and art instruction from Julian Tejera.
• Kids’ Creativity Center lets parents make a play date with art! Appreciate the full experience of Free First Thursday Night while your kids (ages 5+) are engaged in an age-appropriate art project in our new Helen and Bill Geyer Art Studio.
