“Happy in Our Skin” and “Katie Woo, Super Scout” at [words]

Author Fran Manushkin will be at [words] in Maplewood to meet young fans and talk about “Happy in Our Skin” and “Katie Woo, Super Scout”.

In “Happy In Our Skin”, Manushkin offers a cheeky meditation on the everyday miraculousness of skin, with a biracial family at the center of her story. Following a light-skinned mother and her three children (who share their father’s brown skin), Tobia’s illustration creates an expansive, multicultural cast of urbanites enjoying themselves at a park, at the public pool, and at a boisterous block party. It’s freewheeling fun.

Katie Woo, Super Scout: Katie has joined the Super Scouts, where every scout is like a sister. Katie’s ready for some outside fun on a treasure hunt, but she and her partner Janie are nothing alike!
