Having Our Say, by Emily Mann opens as 103-year-old Sadie Delany and 101-year-old Bessie Delany welcome you into their Mount Vernon, New York, home.
As they prepare a celebratory dinner in memory of their father’s birthday, they tell the story of their lives – a look at the past 100 years of our national history.
You’ll see selections from the play about their family history and their own careers as pioneering African-American professional women that will fascinate you.
Hearing their stories may remind you of your own family’s unique stories of struggle and joy.
Gail Lou and Daaimah Talley (both recently appeared in Crowns) will once again take the roles of Sadie and Bessie for these three script-in-hand performances.
