FreeThe JLMN will host a virtual book club meeting featuring author Ms. Tina Kelley as guest speaker to discuss her book: Almost Home: Helping Kids Move from Homelessness to Hope. Registration is available online.
There are 1.6 million young people who are deemed homeless each year in North America. As we go on about our daily lives, that seems like an unbelievable number but it’s real. Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and author Ms. Tina Kelley is bringing light to the subject via her book Almost Home: Helping Kids Move from Homelessness to Hope which provides a dramatic look into the lives of these children.
Tina Kelley is a journalist, poet, and author who is on the staff of Covenant House, where she co-authored “Almost Home: Helping Kids Move from Homelessness to Hope.” Ms. Kelley is also a 10+ year veteran of The New York Times. She shares a 2002 staff Pulitzer Prize for “Portraits of Grief” which featured profiles of victims of the attacks on September 11, 2001. Most recently Ms. Kelley received the 2018 Maplewood Literary Award and published her fourth book of poetry, “Rise Wildly.”
