“LEARNING THROUGH PLAY” PRESCHOOL OPEN FORUM

May 4, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

What is one of the best ways to ensure a happy childhood and lifelong success? Choosing a preschool with an educational philosophy based on learning through play.

Come learn more about the benefits of “Play-based Learning” at a Preschool Open Forum for parents on Wednesday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. at Congregation B’nai Israel led by Rochelle Baron, Director of the Hedwig Gruenewald Early Childhood Center (HGECC).

Congregation B’nai Israel is located on the border of Maplewood and Millburn at the intersection of Ridgewood Road and Millburn Avenue (160 Millburn Avenue, Millburn).

Topics will include: What can children learn in a play-based school? Play-based vs. academic preschools—what are the benefits? What does a play-based environment look and sound like? How do teachers do child-assessments in a play-based environment? What life-long skills are developed in play-based environments and how can they translate into future life successes?

Rochelle Baron has been the director of HGECC since 1994. She has also taught kindergarten, first, second and fourth grades in the New York City school system, has extensive experience teaching art in schools and museums, and has worked as a Pre-K teacher at area synagogues and day camps. Ms. Baron holds a BS degree in Art/Early Childhood Education from Hunter College and a MS degree in Early Childhood Art Education from Brooklyn College, both part of CUNY.

This program is free and open to the community.
