National Bill of Rights Day Celebration.
December 15, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm
FreeSunday December 15 marks the 228th anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights. New Jersey was the first state to ratify these first ten amendments to the constitution, and Virginia was the 11th, achieving the requisite 3/4 of the states then in the union. The Freedom From Religion Foundation is celebrating the Bill of Rights (and the Winter Solstice), by hosting a display in Ricalton Square in Maplewood Village throughout the holiday season. The display was installed on Saturday evening, December 14, accompanied by a small installation ceremony. On December 15 at 5:00 PM, there will be a dedication ceremony and celebration. All are welcome to join as we recommit our support to the freedoms enumerated in the Bill of Rights In accord with the first amendment, we also celebrate and commit that throughout the holidays and throughout the year, we recommit to the separation of church and state, while welcoming to Maplewood all people, regardless of their personal religious belief or non belief.
