“New World Water” Art Exhibition
November 4, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:30 am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, repeating until December 13, 2019
Curated by Samantha Becker, a graduate candidate in the M.A. in Museum Professions program in the College of Communication and the Arts, this group exhibition examines humanity’s relationship with water through the lens of contemporary art. The works of the participating artists will reflect on humanity’s turbulent relationship with water, while considering the sociopolitical reformation that is necessary to restore the right of water to the whole of humankind. Artists in the exhibition address themes such as climate change, water contamination, immigration, diaspora, plastic pollution, community water management, leisure and hygiene.
Participating artists include Keren Anavy, Dotty Attie, Aileen Bassis, Adam Brent, Nancy Cohen, Nancy Crasco, Sally Gall, Tai Hwa Goh, Ellie Irons, Anne Percoco, Nyugen Smith, Allan Wexler and Woolpunk.
The Walsh Gallery is located on the first floor of the Walsh Library at Seton Hall University, 400 South Orange Avenue, and is open 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The exhibit runs from Monday, November 4 to Friday, December 13. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, November 7, from 5 to 9 p.m.
