Open Book/Open Mind Series: Christina Baker Kline in Conversation with Caroline Leavitt

On February 24, Montclair author Christina Baker Kline will launch her much-anticipated new novel, A Piece of the World, at a special Montclair Public Library’s Open Book/ Open Mind series celebrating its two-year anniversary.
This event will kick off the third year of the Open Book/Open Mind live conversation series – an initiative to provide free, world-class spoken-word programming at MPL, and to offer Montclair writers inspiration and community. In 2014, Montclair residents Christina Baker Kline and Matthew Thomas were the inaugural speakers. For the second anniversary celebration, Matthew will introduce Christina and she will discuss storytelling with Caroline Leavitt, the best-selling New Jersey author of eleven fiction novels, most recently Cruel Beautiful World.
The event will celebrate the launch of Christina’s latest novel, A Piece of the World. The story is about Christina Olson, the complex woman and real-life muse Andrew Wyeth portrayed in his 1948 iconic painting Christina’s World. Christina will take the audience through a slideshow related to her historical research and discuss the responsibilities of writing about a real person. Attendees to the event will receive a hardcover copy of A Piece of the World courtesy of Watchung Booksellers Guests will also enjoy a tea and cookies reception following the talk.
