Post-Election Parenting
Saturday, February 4 3:00 pm Main Library
The presidential election has left many children with questions about racism, sexism, and basic civility. How do we provide positive role models for our children when some of our nation’s leaders display qualities we find undesirable? How do we address our children’s fears and concerns? How do we raise them to be thoughtful, kind, and wise adults? There are three basic tools at our disposal: dialogue, education, and books. Please join us for a panel discussion about ways to talk with children from toddlers to teens about these important issues.
Moderator Joy Peskin, editorial director of Farrar Straus Giroux Books for Young Readers
Panelist: Annemarie Maini, director of the South Orange Country Day School
Panelist: Doreen Oliver, writer on the topic of parenthood
Panelist: Monique Bostic, LCSW
Co-sponsored by the Community Coalition on Race
