Many people are misinformed or unaware of how a bankruptcy works and the options that are made available through the legal system for debt relief. Many fall prey to loan modification and foreclosure rescue scams Student loan debt can cause financial hardship for many graduates and their parents.

The information session will include:
• The pros and cons of bankruptcy
• Answers to common bankruptcy questions.
• Alternatives to bankruptcy
• Avoiding foreclosure
• Identifying loan modification and foreclosure rescue scams
• Addressing student loan debt

Shelley Slafkes is a consumer bankruptcy and foreclosure defense attorney and social worker. She and her husband and law partner, Bruce Levitt have over 30 years’ experience in bankruptcy and debtor/consumer rights.
