Society of Musical Arts Fall Concert

Please join the Society of Musical Arts for their free concert: Romantics Rule! The Best of SoMa, on Sunday, October 15 at 4 pm in the auditorium of Maplewood Middle School, 7 Burnett Street, Maplewood. Stephen Culbertson of West Orange conducts the orchestra, made up of talented area residents, in music of Dvorak, Elgar, and Samuel Barber, reprising some favorite pieces from the Society’s 30+ year history of presenting free concerts in Maplewood.

Jameson Platte of Belleville will be the soloist in Elgar’s poignant Cello Concerto, written during the aftermath of World War I, the piece reflects deep emotions, but with simplicity and passion. Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 complete the program.

For over thirty years, the SOMA orchestra has brought together friends, neighbors, and musicians, both professional and amateur–all for the love of music! All are welcome!
