South Mountain Reservation Family Campout

Bring the family and camp in Summit Field of South Mountain Reservation! Our activity-rich outdoor experience will gently immerse you in nature and provide tools so that you can comfortably take the next steps towards further exploration on your own. Our programs are tailored for children ages 4-12. Enjoy guided family hikes, nature programs, information about safety, music, and games! Families are invited to bring food in for dinner, or use the grills provided for that extra yummy experience. Enjoy our evening campfire with songs and story-telling, and don’t forget the s’mores! Roll out of your tent early on Sunday for a sunrise yoga session. Breakfast & coffee is provided. This event is co-sponsored by South Mountain Conservancy and Essex Parks Department of Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Affairs. The 2016 event won an award for Special Event Programming by the NJ Recreation and Park Association. Note: Camping equipment is not provided.
