Talking About Race and Culture: The Construction of Race

Dr. Joshi, professor of education at Farleigh Dickinson University and author and co-editor of many publications including Teaching for Diversity and Social Justice and Asian Americans In Dixie: Race and Migration in the South, returns for a workshop on the construction of race. This is a follow-up to this spring’s Talking to Children about Race and Culture. This time, we will explore the concept of race— the biology of race, the social construction of race, its myths, and how our institutions and culture continue to shape race in ways that privilege whiteness.
