The 61-year-old white male found in the brook behind Maplewood Memorial Library on Friday has been identified as Lawrence Mancuso of South Orange.

An initial search for information on Mancuso has yielded little information — certainly no Facebook page or LinkedIn profile. A Lawrence Mancuso, age 61, is listed on radaris.com as having lived in Manahawkin, then Brick, then South Orange. However, no street addresses are listed for Brick and South Orange.

The cause of death continues to be under investigation by the Essex County Medical Examiners Office, according to a release from the Maplewood Police.

On Friday, police reported that the death was deemed “not suspicious.”

Police removed Mancuso’s body from the brook behind the Maplewood Memorial Library on Friday after receiving a report of a possible deceased person at around 8:17 a.m., said Capt. Dawn Williams of the Maplewood PD. Police cordoned off the area around the library parking lot and the park behind the library until shortly after 11:30 a.m. when the body was removed.

Police asked the library to delay its opening on Friday while Mancuso was removed.
