Maplewood PD to Conduct Additional Crosswalk, Traffic Details

The Maplewood Police Department will be conducting pedestrian crosswalk enforcement and traffic details in the area of Prospect Street, Springfield Avenue, Valley Street and the surrounding area next week.

According to a release from the MPD, the enforcement and details will take place from Monday, October 19 through Sunday, October 25.

The announcement follows on an accident Thursday morning, Oct. 15 in which a 7-year-old boy on his way to school was struck by a car that allegedly failed to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk at Prospect Street and Lexington Avenue. The boy has been released from the hospital and did not sustain serious injuries.

The Maplewood Police Department will be conducting Pedestrian Crosswalk Enforcement/Traffic Details starting from Monday 10/19/15 to Sunday 10/25/15.

The Pedestrian Crosswalk Enforcement Details are to enforce violations of vehicles not stopping for pedestrians in the crosswalk and other traffic violations.

The details will be in the area of Prospect Street, Springfield Avenue, Valley Street and surrounding streets.
