The Maplewood Police Department has increased patrols in the area of the Maplewood- Millburn border in light of a recent burglary of a Cypress Street home in Maplewood  and the May 12 robbery in a home on Berkeley Road in Millburn.

“We assisted Millburn by sending Maplewood PD units into the area on the day of their incident,” said Maplewood Police Chief Robert Cimino, “and we confer with Millburn as they continue their investigation into their case.”

Cimino added that, while police analyze each incident to determine similarities, “we do not have any clear indication that the Maplewood Cypress St burglary is related to the Millburn robbery at this time.”

Cimino urged Maplewood residents to practice sound crime prevention by securing thehir homes and vehicles, being alert to suspicious activity in their neighborhood, and calling the police immediately if they observe  any suspicious persons  or activity.

Maplewood Police can be reached at (973) 762-3400.
