Maplewood Sees Increase in Traffic Summonses With New Police Traffic Bureau

Following on the creation of a new Traffic Bureau in 2018, Maplewood Police have written substantially more traffic summonses in an effort to make streets safer for motorists and pedestrians.

Speaking to the Maplewood Township Committee on October 15, Sgt. Scott Reeves, who directs the Traffic Bureau, reported that — aided by e-ticketing — the Traffic Bureau had seen a 52% increase in speeding summonses and 10% increase in summonses overall. Reeves did not specify the timeframe of the increase.
