The woman struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train just west of Maplewood Station Saturday night has been identified as Kara Beloreshka, 45, of Springfield, according to NJ Transit spokeswoman Lisa Torbic.

None of the train’s 175 passengers or crew members were injured in the incident, which took place at around 10 p.m. and briefly suspended service in both directions between Maplewood and East Orange. The train had been heading to New York Penn Station when it struck Beloreshka.

No further details were available. “It is still an active investigation,” said Torbic on Sunday evening.
