S. Orange Police Arrest Newark Teen in Armed Robbery of Delivery Man

South Orange Police arrested Darnell Brown, a 19-year-old Newark resident, on July 30 and charged him with the July 25 armed robbery of a food delivery employee on Holland Rd., according to police.

While conducting surveillance on Smith St. in Newark, detectives saw Brown walking down the street. After additional officers rushed to the scene to assist, Brown allegedly ran away and police caught him in a backyard, said police. Armed with a loaded handgun, Brown was “extremely combative” and allegedly assaulted several officers while attempting to resist arrest, according to police. He was taken to the Essex County Jail. Detectives are investigating possible additional offenses.

Criminal mischief
A College Pl. resident stated that sometime between 8:30am and 6:00pm on 8-5-15 an unknown actor broken a window on her glass storm door which is situated on the side of her dwelling.

Warrant arrest
Taylor Red, a 57 year old South Orange resident was arrested on 8-4-15 at approximately 10:15pm after he was stopped for committing a motor vehicle violation on Irvington Ave. During the subsequent stop it was discovered that the subject had a suspended driver’s license and had a warrant issued for his arrest out of the city of East Orange. The subject was arrested at the scene without incident, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Warrant arrest
Craig Anderson, a 30 year old South Orange resident was arrested at his home on 8-5-15 at approximately 9:00pm after Detectives served an active warrant issued for his arrest out of Bound Brook Police department. The subject was transported to police headquarters and turned over to Bound Brook PD.

Trespassing/arrest
Isaiah carter, a 22 year old Orange resident was arrested on 8-3-15 at approximately 10:35pm after he was found inside of a private apartment complex on Irvington Ave. while not licensed or authorized to be on said property. The subject was transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

DUI/arrest
Edward McNealy, a 25 year old Orange resident was arrested on 8-3-15 at approximately 10:55pm after an officer observed the subject stopped at a red light on South Orange Ave. slumped over the wheel. During the subsequent field investigation it was discovered that the subject was under the influence and unable to legally and safely operate a motor vehicle. The subject was arrested at the scene without incident, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

8/3/2015
Theft of bicycles/arrests
Three juveniles that reside in Newark were arrested on 8-2-15 at approximately 4:45pm after they attempted to remove bicycles from a bike rack located in the rear of a private housing complex located on West South Orange Ave. All three subjects were arrested as they attempted to flee the scene. The juveniles were transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft of cell phone
An employee at the T-Mobile store located on Sloan St. stated that on 7-30-15 at approximately 2:10pm an actor described as a black male approximately 6’0″ in height wearing a navy blue shirt and having a towel in his possession removed an I-phone from the front counter and fled the store. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Theft of bicycle
A resident stated that on 7-30-15 at approximately 8:00am he locked his bicycle (black Sears mountain bike) to the bicycle rack at the main train station and when he returned to it at 8:00pm he discovered it had been stolen.

7/30/2015
Theft of bicycle
A South Orange resident stated that on 7-29-15 he had secured his silver Schwinn Trail Way hybrid bicycle to the bike rack at the main train station at approximately 8:00am. The victim stated that he returned to same at 8:45pm and discovered the lock had been cut and the bicycle removed.

Shoplifting/arrest
Nehemiah Henderson, a 29 year old South Orange resident was arrested on 7-29-15 at approximately 9:45am after he was observed concealing several items into his clothing while in the Pathmark supermarket on Valley St. The actor was arrested by officers called to the scene as he attempted to exit the store with the stolen merchandise.

Warrant arrest
Louis McCray, a 65 year old Newark resident was arrested on 7-28-15 at approximately 11:15am after is was discovered during a motor vehicle stop on Third St. that the subject had outstanding warrants issued for his arrest out of the city of Newark and the Township of East Hanover.

Theft of cell phone
A victim stated that on 7-28-15 at approximately 11:15pm he was skateboarding in the NJ Transit lot adjacent to Church St. when a white male described as being 5’7″ in his late teens wearing a navy blue tank top and grey shorts asked to use his cell phone for an emergency. Before the victim could reply the actor grabbed the cell phone from the victim’s hand and fled into a small black vehicle occupied by three other white males. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
