VIDEO: South Orange Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Menorah Vandals

The following is a press release from Chief Kyle Kroll of the South Orange Police Department about Monday’s menorah vandalism in Spiotta Park. The menorah lighting ceremony will take place as scheduled tonight, Thursday, Dec. 29 at 5 p.m.

The South Orange Police Department is actively investigating damage to a menorah located in Spiotta Park which is adjacent to South Orange Ave. and Village Plaza. The incident which occurred on December 26, 2016 at approximately 10:40pm was captured on video surveillance and shows a male actor appearing to be in his late teens damaging the menorah with a long striped cane.   This actor was accompanied by two other males which also appeared to be in their late teens. Our Detective Bureau is continuing to fully investigate this incident  and is asking the public to assist us in identifying the actor and or actors involved in this incident.

The South Orange Police Department stands with the Community of South Orange in taking these matters seriously. As Chief of Police I will ensure that this incident or any further like incidents will be fully and aggressively investigated as these senseless acts will not be tolerated in our community.
