As part of her work as a psychotherapist and executive coach, local resident Yael Sivi has been speaking with leaders about the “inner work” of leadership and the “intersection” of personal and professional growth. This concept, something Sivi and her business partner and husband Yosh Beier call “conscious collaboration,” is the theme of a podcast series the two have produced through their firm Collaborative Coaching (collaborative-coaching.com).
“As part of this nascent series, I interviewed Clinton Elementary principal Ann Bodnar,” Sivi told Village Green. “In my observation (as the parent of a 3rd grader at Clinton), Ann very much embodies what it means to be a leader of great integrity and reflection, and in our interview she was willing to be quite open about her leadership journey of learning and growth. She also talks about a lot of the great things going on at Clinton.”
Bodnar has been principal at Clinton School — a K-5 elementary school located in Maplewood and part of the South Orange-Maplewood School District — since 2015. She’s a popular leader who Sivi says has brought “effective empowerment, humor, relatability and a joy for never-ending growth and learning to her leadership,” helping to shape “a culture at Clinton that supports excellent, inclusive teaching.”
