The following is a message from South Orange Middle School (SOMS) Principal Joseph Uglialoro:
Dear SOMS Families:
Thank you for getting your children safely to school today, and for your flexibility in making accommodations in response to the 12:30 dismissal.
This message will explain our plans for administering mid-terms in the event of school closings over the next two days. All changes are indicated in bold.
6th Grade:
The 6th grade Math mid-term will still be given on Thursday, January 29th and Friday, January 30th.
The 6th grade Spanish mid-term will still be given on either Thursday, January 29th or Friday, January 30th depending on which day your child has Spanish.
7th Grade:
The 7th grade Math mid-term will still be given on Thursday, January 29th and Friday, January 30th.
The three day 7th grade Spanish mid-term will now be given on Thursday, January 29th, Friday, January 30th, and Monday, February 2nd.
8th Grade:
The 8th grade College Prep and Honors Math mid-term will still be given on Friday, January 30th.
The 8th grade English Language Arts performance-based assessment will now be given on Monday, February 2nd and Tuesday, February 3rd.
The three day 8th grade Spanish mid-term will now be given on Thursday, January 29th, Friday, January 30th, and Monday, February 2nd.
8th Grade Accelerated Geometry Students:
Mr. Moss’ 8th grade Geometry students will now take their Geometry mid-term on Friday, January 30th. They are not to report to their regularly scheduled Geometry class on Thursday, January 29th.
Ms. McKay and Ms. Faulkner’s 8th grade Geometry students will now take their Geometry mid-term on Monday, February 2nd. They are not to report to their regularly scheduled Geometry class on Thursday, January 29th and Friday, January 30th.
Ms. Leslie’s 8th grade Geometry students will take their Geometry mid-term on Thursday, as scheduled. In the event of a school closing on Thursday, we will send out another communication to clarify the mid-term date.
