On Saturday, February 20, one hundred elementary schoolchildren from South Orange and Maplewood gathered at Columbia High School at the Beauty & The Beast “Be Our Guest” fundraising event.  Children rotated to different locations in the building to play games, decorate costumes, learn part of the song and dance for “Be Our Guest,” and master the art of staged combat.  The morning ended with a performance for parents.  Audience members were also treated to a sneak-peak of “Be Our Guest” by the high school performers.

Bethany Pettigrew and Trisha Benn, the directors of the Columbia High School play, organized this fundraiser to support the significant costs of set design and costumes for the high school play.  The entire cast took delivery of the set on Saturday, February 27th, and they will be  busy over the next two weeks building a quaint village and an elegant castle.
