South Mountain YMCA Hosts ‘Frozen’ Family Fun 2/6

The South Mountain YMCA in Maplewood is hosting a ‘Frozen’ Fun Night, a free, family-friendly evening on Friday, February 6 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the South Mountain Y, 13 Jefferson Road in Maplewood.

Families are invited to make shimmering snow and snowmen out of marshmallows, meet Elsa, and dance and sing to their favorite ‘Frozen’ songs while they check out summer camps at the South Mountain YMCA, according to a press release.

While playing Pin the Nose on the Snowman, sipping hot cocoa and enjoying healthy snacks, parents can find out more about the Y’s 14 summer camps for children as young as 2 ½ up to teens entering 10th grade.

The release continues:

From the traditional to the specialized, South Mountain Y camps build campers’ self-esteem, confidence and social skills in a fun, safe and enriching environment. Participants develop independence and wellness awareness through developmentally appropriate activities and learning experiences in camps that are accredited by the American Camp Association.

Traditional camps include Mini Y Knots, Y Knots, SOMAPY Camp, Preteen Adventure Camp, Teen Adventure Camp, and the Counselor-in-Training program. The Y offers specialty camps in drama, the environment, global arts, sports and golf. Reading time and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) lessons are incorporated into all curriculums.

Additional camp open houses will be held Friday, March 13 and Saturday, May 2. For more information, go to SMountainYMCA.org or call (973) 762-4145.
