From the South Mountain YMCA:
In just six weeks, the South Mountain YMCA raised nearly 72 percent of its 2019 goal of $182,500 in the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges’ Treasure Quest, a campaign to make communities stronger, more inclusive, healthier, and safer. As a whole, the association and its seven branches raised $710,100 of a $1.14 million target for the year.
“We know the real challenges our members and families face,” said YMCA President and CEO Richard K. Gorab, dressed as Jack Sparrow at a pirate-themed celebration on March 4. “Too often the waters are high and the seas are choppy but the Y is the place they turn to for respite, relief, and support,” he said. “The funds we raise ensure our doors are held open wide for all.”
The other Metro YMCA branches are: the East Orange YMCA; Fairview Lake YMCA Camps in Stillwater; Greater Bergen County YMCA in Hackensack; Sussex County YMCA in Hardyston; Wayne YMCA; and West Essex YMCA in Livingston.
