Reducing early bird fees by 10% and post-early bird fees by 5% “would be not only continuing the township committee’s commitment to making the pool more affordable and more accessible, it would also be a bit of good news for residents,” said Deputy Mayor Malia Herman. 

Collins-Colding is running for the seat on the Maplewood Township Committee being vacated by Deborah Engel. The primary is on June 10.

The mayor provided extensive updates on everything from the new stormwater utility tax to the potential redevelopment of the Maplewood movie theater at the Township Committee’s annual reorganization meeting.

The budget supports policy decisions around streeteries, Master Plan implementation, lowering pool fees, increasing homeless outreach, and instituting pay increases for lower-wage township workers.

“We’ve talked about this a long time,” said Township Committee member Vic De Luca, “making the pool more open and accessible.”
