Have you met BackPack Bob?

If not, you should. BackPack Bob is a pretty cool guy. Now only does he party with rock stars (see picture above), he is the spokesperson for Rent Party’s BackPack Pals program, helping to feed about 100 kids in Maplewood and South Orange every week.

BackPack Pals provides a weekend’s worth of nutritious food to kids in the South Orange-Maplewood School District. These kids are typically receiving free/assisted breakfast and lunches and our program helps “bridge the gap,” insuring that they have something to eat on the weekend. Approximately 20% kids in the school district receive free/assisted breakfast and lunches.

Local graphic artist Heather Kern created BackPack Bob last year. “We wanted to create a BackPack Pals specific campaign, raising awareness of the program and letting folks know how they could help,” said Chris Dickson of Rent Party.

“Heather created Bob as part of that. And it’s perfect! Perfect because Bob is one of ‘our kids,’ a kid who might be receiving a pack or one of the many kids who volunteers to put the packs together or runs a food drive to support BackPack Pals,” said David Wagner, who runs the BackPack Pals program for Rent Party.
