Maplewood, Millburn Farmers Markets Open

Not to be outdone by South Orange, Maplewood and Millburn have also opened their farmers markets in early June.

The Maplewood Farmers Market, organized by Township Assistant Administrator Cesar Correa, launched its 2014 season on Monday, June 9. The market will run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Monday (daylight permitting) through October 27. The market is located in the parking lot at Springfield Avenue and Indiana Street. The market features two New Jersey growers and their vegetables and fruits, plus breads, baked goods, preserves, cheeses and prepared foods such as steaks and crab cakes.

The Millburn Farmers Market is situated at Essex Street and Main Street and runs Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from June 3 through November 11. Besides fruits and vegetables, the market offers flowers, baked goods, frozen entrees, cheese and pickles.

The South Orange Farmers Market runs June 4 through October 29, Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cheese, wine, baked goods, nuts, meats, and gluten-free products are available for purchase in addition to produce.

All three markets feature Jersey Fresh produce. WIC and senior vouchers are accepted by some farmers.
