The Austins St. George's

Join Soprano Amanda Austin, Baritone Justin Michael Austin, and collaborative pianist Tamara Kim for a Concert of Operatic Arias, Duets and Musical Theatre on Saturday. The special evening is in support of MEND’s (Meeting Emergency Needs with Dignity) two local food pantries: Our Lady of Sorrows, SO & St Joe’s, Maplewood; St. George’s Church, as well as the Austin’s Concert Tour. The Austin’s are a newly married couple, both graduates of The Manhattan School of Music in NYC and students of opera legend, Catherine Malfitano. Amanda is a native of Maplewood and a graduate of CHS. The concert will feature selections from German, French, Italian, and English operas, as well as a few musical theatre treats!

The Luther Vandross Tribute Show featuring E.R.I.C.

Lenny Green of 107.5 WBLS will host The Luther Vandross Tribute Show featuring E.R.I.C. at SOPAC on Saturday.  The performance showcases the music of Mr. Luther Vandross with full band, background singers, dancers, and much more. You’ll also enjoy a fully serviced dinner.

Montclair Jazz Festival

Head to Montclair for an outstanding free day of music for all ages at the Montclair Jazz Festival on Saturday. Artistic director Christian McBride and Mistress of Ceremonies, actor S. Epatha Merkerson, lead the stage action for the sixth annual Montclair Jazz Festival at Nishuane Park. Headliners this year are dynamic vocalist José James, the Paquito D’Rivera Quintet, and the Christian McBride Big Band featuring Melissa Walker.

summer streets nyc

If you missed it last weekend, you’ll have one more chance this Saturday morning to go enjoy Summer Streets NYC.  Nearly seven miles of New York City’s streets are opened up for everyone to play, run, walk and bike. Activities include: dance performances, sand art, interactive photo booths, water sprinklers, rock climbing wall, zip line, learn to bike classes, food, music, and much more!

Blues Jam

On Sunday, head to Hat City Kitchen in Orange to enjoy  Open Blues Jam with Al Gold. Let out your blues with a great blues jam all afternoon. Musicians from all around come out and play, and fill the room with sweet melodies that will touch your soul. Each week is a different band and all levels of players and singers are encouraged to participate!
