Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a winner in the South Orange Public Library Adult Summer Reading Program. Marcia Worth-Baker of South Orange won the first prize in the library’s first-ever summer reading program for adults. “My prize is dinner for two at Ricalton’s,” said Worth-Baker. “I’m thrilled.”
To participate in the summer program, adult readers simply read books and write brief reviews on cards the library provides. The card asks readers to rank the book with stars from one to five and submit the card to the circulation desk. When a reader’s card is pulled from the pile, that reader can win a prize.
Local businesses have donated prizes, which will be awarded throughout the summer. Sponsors include Falafel-ly Yours, The Restaurant at Above, Ricalton’s Rocket Ship and Print, South Orange Framing, Toro Loco, Town Hall Deli and the UPS Store.
“My children became avid readers doing the summer incentive programs in the children’s room,” said Worth-Baker. Her winning submission was a review of My Salinger Year by Joanna Rakoff. “I chose to read the book after hearing the author speak at Words. This is a nice way to keep it all local.”
