“We’re gonna need more ribbon,” said Matt Glass, Chair of the South Orange Village Center Alliance, after a grand opening ribbon cutting at Ricalton’s Village Tavern on Saturday, July 26.
Ricalton’s is part of a number of positive developments in the village center, including two large-scale construction projects (The Gateway, Third & Valley) that will bring more residents, shoppers and businesses to the village.
SOVCA also recently revealed the preliminary results of a retail study and plans for aggressive business recruitment.
But Saturday was all about Ricalton’s, which has already become a village staple since opening its doors at the beginning of June and was one of several South Orange businesses recently featured on News 12 NJ. On Saturday, Johnson was joined by partner Tom McLaughlin, Village Trustees Sheena Collum and Stephen Schnall, Matt Glass, SOVCA Executive Director Bob Zuckerman, and friends, staff and family, to celebrate the business’s opening.
Magnums of Moet champagne were raffled off and bar patrons enjoyed live music.
McLaughlin marveled that — despite the grand opening ceremony Saturday — the business has been off and running since June.
“It was a ‘soft opening,'” said McLaughlin, “but we’ve been really busy!”
