I am writing in support of the candidacy of Annemarie Maini and Chris Sabin for South Orange Maplewood Board of Education. Their commitment to a fair and equitable education for all children, their understanding of the need for improved communication and transparency from the district, and their demonstrated skills of leadership and negotiation, not only within the community but in their professional lives, make them stand out as the best candidates for the BOE.
I’m so impressed with Annemarie’s involvement in the community. From running the South Orange Country Day Preschool to serving on the South Orange Middle School Home School Association; from working to organize South Orange Play Day to serving on the board of her neighborhood association, Annemarie demonstrates a clear dedication to our community. I know she will work tirelessly as an advocate for all children in our school district.
Every time I talk to Chris, I can see that he is passionate about our schools, our community, and our children. As the parent of three children in our district and a graduate of Columbia High School, Chris has strong ties to the schools here. He’s served as a leader in our towns’ football and lacrosse teams, and he’s got a real aptitude for bringing people together. He grew up watching his mother serve on the school board, and her commitment to serving her community clearly rubbed off on Chris. He will be a strong advocate for the students of South Orange and Maplewood.

As the parent of two young children in the South Orange-Maplewood School District, I’ve been impressed with the teaching and learning happening in our schools. I’ve also witnessed the need for improved communication and transparency. And I know Chris and Annemarie will work toward making our school system even better for all children in our district.
