A 14-year-old Irvington girl was allegedly robbed at gunpoint Saturday night while walking with friends on South Orange Avenue across from the Exxon gas station, according to police.
The girl told police that at around 9 p.m., she and her girlfriends were approached by three men who tried to talk to them. One of the men brandished a black handgun and demanded the girl’s cell phone, police said. The men took the phone and ran away.
Maplewood Police helping in the investigation later stopped 20-year-old East Orange resident Muhammed McCulloch on Midland Place and arrested him after the girl positively identified him as one of the men involved, said police. McCulloch was charged with robbery. The investigation continues to identify the other two men involved in the robbery.
