South Orange Police arrested George Brown, a 36-year-old Orange resident, on October 10 at 9 p.m, after an officer on routine patrol saw Brown walking on Ward Place and determined that he allegedly fit the description of a man who had been burglarizing vehicles in town, police said.
The officer had previously viewed home surveillance video of Brown entering a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Ridgewood Rd. residence on October 8 at around 2:30 a.m. Further investigation determined that Brown was allegedly responsible for that incident, police said.
Police said Brown voluntarily confessed to several nighttime vehicle burglaries throughout the Village. The Detective Bureau is continuing the investigation at this time.
