The CHS boys basketball team has advanced to the finals of the Essex County Invitational, where they will play West Orange on Saturday, Feb. 21.

“Service came naturally to Jay. He had a big heart and a quiet instinct to put others before himself. He never sought attention or praise—he simply showed up. In the final moments of his life, he did what he had always done: he put others ahead of himself.”

South Orange Mayor Sheena Collum said the potential $8M ask would be “very tone deaf” after the district had used “terms like fiscal cliff to express and project out to the community the severity of what the district is facing.”

“Unlike some towns, we have not shirked our responsibility,” said Mayor Vic De Luca, who is now seeking an extension from a court in order to meet the township’s Fair Share Housing Center requirement.

The recreation renovation project, funded in part by a $1 million Green Acres grant, will include paddle tennis and pickleball courts, basketball half courts, a rain garden, a children’s garden, fitness stations, picnic areas and a natural grass lawn.

With its catchy songs, playful storytelling and vibrant ensemble numbers, the musical is billed as the perfect show for audiences of all ages.
