Gallery 1978 — An opening reception will be held on Sunday, August 10 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. for Promises, Promises: Artifacts and Evidence, an art installation that stands against human trafficking by artist Anne Dushanko Dobek — best known for her provocative work dealing with environmental and social justice issues. Promises, Promises is on exhibit at 1978 Arts Center, 1978 Springfield Ave. in Maplewood August 3-31. www.1978artscenter.org

Summer in the Gazebo — Saturday August 9th, 11:00 a.m.– 12:00 p.m. Rock and Roll for the whole Family from Maplewood’s Favorite Band www.starfishrocks.com at the Gazebo next to the Hilton Branch of Maplewood Memorial Library on Springfield Avenue at Vermont Street.

Downtown After Sundown — Live music in the heart of South Orange Village Center every Friday through Labor Day from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Spiotta Park and on Sloan Street. Grab some dinner, grab a lawn chair and get set for some great live music. Downtown After Sundown is produced by the South Orange Village Center Alliance.
