Wine Barrel Rolls Out the Barrel with Bourbon Tasting

It’s been almost one year since Wine Barrel filled our holidays with a little more joy — and spirits — with its opening in December 2015.

After 11 months of operation, business is good for owner Atul Gupta, who has been making the 5,000 sf store at Springfield Avenue and Prospect Street a major player in the Maplewood community by sponsoring events, providing event space and stocking shelves full of liquor, craft beer and wine — plus cheese, crackers, chocolate and cigars!

The website has recently been revamped, allowing customers to order and pay online: www.winebarrelmaplewood.com. Currently, orders must be picked up in the store, but Gupta says home delivery is coming soon.

This Thursday, Wine Barrel is building on its usual wine tastings with a bourbon tasting at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. “We are launching our Journeyman single barrel, selected by Wine Barrel employees,” said Gupta. “We will be tasting side by side the regular and the single barrel bourbon.”

While you’re there, ask for a tour of Wine Barrel’s basement event space. It’s a dry, warm and inviting space — immaculately clean and bright — that includes a restroom and kitchenette.
