The 2016 South Orange Memorial Day Service has NOT been canceled, despite a forecast of heavy rain through Monday, May 30.

This year’s service will take place Monday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. by Memorial Rock at the southwest end of the Duck Pond off Mead Street. The event is hosted by the Village of South Orange, Boy Scout Troops and Service Veterans each year.

Regardless of the weather, there will be a laying of the wreath.

According to Dept. of Recreation Director Kate Schmidt, “We’ll decide at 8:30 a.m. if set up of chairs and sound makes sense. If not, we’ll still plan to meet there at 10:30. The weather at that time will determine the extent of the ceremony.”

All are invited to join the Village of South Orange in honoring those who have died in service of the United States of America.
