Three of the seven candidates for South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education responded this year to the SOMA Justice/PARES Report Card on Equity and Inclusion questionnaire.

The two grassroots community groups have released the Report Card twice previously: in 2017 and 2018.

This year, candidates answered a series of questions covering topics ranging from district communications, the SOMSD 2021 Intentional Integration Plan, the $160M Long Range Facilities Plan, the 2016 Access & Equity Policy, professional development on equity for staff, the candidates’ own history with equity training, school resource officers (SROs) or armed officers, lockdown drills, and a fund for school lunches for students in need.
