South Orange Police arrested a 43-year-old Brooklyn man Monday after he allegedly stole a woman’s purse on Vose Avenue at around 8:45 p.m.
The woman told police she was near the Post Office when someone she described as a tall, thin black man wearing camouflage clothing and a dark colored, hooded sweatshirt took her purse and ran east on Vose Avenue. Officers responding saw a man matching the woman’s description on South Orange Ave. near the flag pole, police said. In their investigation, officers found the woman’s purse along with clothing which was reportedly shed by the man in a backyard on Scotland Road.
After further investigation and with the assistance of an Essex County K-9 unit, officers arrested the man, and charged him with robbery, said police.
