Jerry Giaimis claims he was forced out after he repeatedly warned Dafis and the TC about bid-rigging and the Township CFO’s failure to submit a timely 2022 budget.

The mayor said the cost of environmental remediation was “extraordinary” and the abatement would allow the rehabilitation “of a site no one else wants to develop.” 

Deputy Mayor Deborah Engel voted no, saying that the TC should avoid demonstrating preference to the foundation over other non-profits. 

The proclamation followed the raising of a Women’s History Month flag outside Maplewood Town Hall, where the TC meeting was held in person for the first time in three years. It is the first time such a flag has been raised in Maplewood, said TC member Nancy Adams. 

The BOE will have a first read of the revised policy on March 30, before it is voted on in its final form in April or May. At the April 27 public budget meeting, the BOE will vote to approve its final budget, which will include a line for any revisions to the transportation policy.

The Township Committee passed an ordinance allowing streateries from April 15-November 15. Businesses may submit applications beginning March 1.

In addition to a jam-packed month of events and programs, February marks the first of an ongoing series of light installations at the Maplewood Municipal Building.
