Maplewood’s Director of Recreation and Cultural Affairs, Keith Knudsen, has resigned from his position after four years. His last day will be February 24.

Knudsen has taken the job of Recreation Director for the Township of Roxbury, according to Township Administrator Joseph Manning. The township is currently seeking a replacement.

Knudsen began his tenure in Maplewood in January of 2012. He previously was Recreation Director with the Township of West Milford and before that was Assistant Director with the Township of Mt. Olive.

“I decided to leave Maplewood and go to the Township of Roxbury because Roxbury is close to where I live and it would allow me the ability to spend more time with my family,” said Knudsen in an email. “I am truly going to miss all of the people I have met in Maplewood, and I was very honored to be in a township as wonderful as this one. Mostly I am thrilled at the wonderful programs I was able to create while I have been here, the many collaborations I was involved with, and the many committees I worked with.

I wish to thank Joseph Manning, Mayor Deluca, Ms. Larrier, Ms. Adams, Mr. Lembrich, and Mr. Brownlee for their support. I also want to thank Kathleen Leventhal and Jerry Ryan who were big supporters while they were with the Township Committee.”
