From Monday August 10 through Friday August 15, 2015, six Buddhist monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery in Tibet will be in residence at The Woodland in Maplewood to create a piece of mandala sand art.

The monks will build a magnificent work of art out of colored sand, placing it one grain at a time into a large geometric pattern called a mandala. Each sand painting takes more than 30 hours to complete with the monks working up to eight hours per day.

The public will be invited at no cost to view the mandala under construction.

But before August 10, the town needs your help and is asking the public to vote on which mandala they would like to see constructed. See below for descriptions of the mandalas, then visit the mandala Facebook page to VOTE on your favorite by selecting the radio button next to the corresponding image.
