The annual Maplewood Rotary Christmas Tree Sale at the Maplewood Pool is doing a terrific business this year — either in spite of or perhaps due to the unseasonably warm temperatures.

“We started out with 590 trees and we’re now down to 60,” said Kathleen Pierz, Rotary member, on a balmy Sunday afternoon. They’re also completely out of decorated wreaths, though there are plenty of fresh, vibrant strands of garland if you want to make your own.

As for the trees, “We’ll close when we sell the last one.”

The sale, which began November 28, runs every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Mondays through Fridays from 6-8 p.m.

The Rotary has been holding the Christmas tree sale for 30 years, said Prinz. All proceeds go to a variety of local charities. The Rotary is involved across the world with such causes as polio eradication, clean water and disaster relief.

Proceeds from the sales go toward local charities including: Dictionary Project, Rent Party, Gift of Life, NICU of St. Barnabas, Boys and Girls Scouts, CHS Scholarship Fund, Camp Merry Heart, Dickens Village, Community Foodbank of NJ, The Pajama Program, Springfield Avenue Partnership, South Mountain YMCA, Little League Baseball, Town Beautification, and Maplewood Arts & Music.

The Maplewood Pool is located at 187 Boyden Ave, Maplewood, NJ.
