Author Ashton Applewhite Debunks Myths About Aging May 18 at Woodland

From SOMA: Two Towns for All Ages:

Author and advocate Ashton Applewhite will speak at The Woodland on Thursday, May 18.

In her book and frequent talks, Applewhite debunks myth after myth about late life and describes what an age-friendly world would look like.  Just as sexism and racism have uselessly divided and damaged entire groups of people, ageism isolates and debases “olders,” a crucial part of our community.

Whether speaking at the United Nations, the Library of Congress or in Ted Talks,  Ashton Applewhite challenges the roots of ageism and the cultural views we hold about the natural, lifelong, powerful process we all hope to experience. Whether you are older or hoping to get there, she will shake you by the shoulders, cheer you up, make you mad and change the way you see the rest of your life. Age pride!

This event is brought to you by SOMA: Two Towns for All Ages, and is free and open to the public.
