South Orange Police: Man Injured in Assault by Three on Fairview Avenue

A man was slightly injured by three men who attempted to rob him on Fairview Avenue on Wednesday shortly before 10 p.m., according to the South Orange Police blotter.

The man said he was walking south on Fairview Ave from South Orange Avenue when he was approached by three men who told him to hand over his property, police said. The man suffered minor injuries after he fought with the three, who ran away without taking anything. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Shoplifing/arrest
Keshonda Bellamy, a 42 year old Newark resident was arrested on 2-7-16 at approximately 9:00pm after the subject was observed placing merchandise into her clothing while at the Seven Eleven and attempting to exit same. The subject was taken into custody, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Shoplifting/arrest
David McFarlane, a 22 year old Newark resident was arrested on 2-7-16 at approximately 9:00am after he attempted to conceal merchandise while in rite Aid on his person and exit same. The subject was arrested at the scene without incident, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft of wallet
A female stated that on 2-5-16 at approximately 6:00pm she exited a food establishment located on Kroll Plaza and realized a short time later that she had left her wallet on a table. When she returned she discovered it had been stolen. The wallet contained her personal identification and credit cards.

Theft from vehicle
A University Ct. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 2-3-16 an unknown actor(s) had entered his unlocked vehicle (2004 Nissan) and removed a pair of sun glasses and a North Face sweater. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident.

DWI/arrest
Edward Baldwin, a 34 year old Newark resident was arrested on 2-2-16 at approximately 11:20pm after an officer on routine patrol observed the subject asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle while it was parked on Varsity Rd. During the on-scene investigation it was discovered that the subject had been operating his vehicle while under the influence. The subject was arrested at the scene transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.
